Akka Mahadevi Mahila Mahavidyalaya runs under the Shanti Vardhak Education Society.

Shanti Vardhak Education Society was founded as far back as 1956 at Bhalki by Param Poojya Dr. Channabasava Pattadevaru and Sri Dr. Bheemanna Khandre to cater to the educational needs of the people of this region. Aseperate College for women had been a long felt need of the people of this region and the society came forward to shoulder the responsibility of starting this institution for women in the year 1971. This was a pioneering effort of Shanti Vardhak Education Society to create more facilities for spreading higher education for women in the district. This College has now completed 46 years successfully with a record of good results. It has experienced teaching staff, rich library, well equipped laboratories, and necessary amenities for poor and needy students. The College is affiliated to P.U. Board, Banglore & Akkamahadevi Women�s University, Vijayapur. The College is being run in its own building which stands on a 5 acre land in the vicinity of New Bus Stand.
